Our music program is led by our very talented organist Audrey Bingaman. She along with two equally talented substitutes provide us with quality organ/piano music for our worship services. We have a small but committed choir which provides beautiful music coordinated with the theme of our worship service. They are always on the “lookout” for anyone who likes to sing and make a joyful noise unto the Lord. If you are so called…watch the bulletin for their rehearsal times which are usually on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 PM in the choir room. The choir sings September through May!
Emmanuel is actively engaged in sharing the abundance of God’s gifts. We support the local food bank which distributes food to those in need the third Thursday of each month. We have specific items we are asked to collect during the money but any and all donations are welcome and help during the food distribution is always needed!
Emmanuel also does several “mini missions” throughout the year. We have done some projects such as collecting dental items for Children’s dental Health month, children’s books to support local literacy efforts, and Christmas food baskets for the Union County Children and Youth Services…just to name a few.
Emmanuel also supports the wider church, the United Church of Christ, with its OCWM (Our Church’s Wider Mission) offering which provides funding for the area conferences and the national ministries of the denomination. We also support the four special mission offerings of our wider church which are:
The Christmas Fund for the Veterans of the Cross and the Emergency Fund – Helps to provide pension and health premium supplementation to lower-income retired church workers and emergency assistance to clergy or lay church employees in need.
One Great Hour of Sharing – Channels resources for international programs in health, education, and agricultural development, emergency relief, refugee ministries and both international and domestic disaster response.
Strengthen the Church – Funds efforts to reimagine and build the future of the UCC.
Neighbors in Need – Supports ministries of justice and compassion throughout the United States.
Each week during our worship service we have a special time dedicated to the children in our midst. It is a time for the church family to get to know them and love them into adulthood by sharing together a lesson about God. Following this time together, the children are invited to continue learning together outside of the worship space with one of our Sunday School volunteers.
Throughout the year, several book studies are offered for 4 -6 week intervals following the morning worship service. These learning and sharing events are held in the Adult Sunday School Room of the educational building. Our last study featured the book “Half Truths” authored by Adam Hamilton.
We have a very active worship team that works to create beautiful and meaningful worship experiences that touch all of the senses and keep us actively engaged. They strive to keep worship exciting and memorable…something you don’t want to miss!
This circle of committed volunteers does all of our fund raising activities throughout the year as well as funeral dinners, congregational dinners, and other special fellowship times that may be called for. The main events are the Bake and rummage sale in the Spring and the Bake and Craft sale in the Fall also known as “Christmas from the Attic.” They are a vital part of the church’s activities and help to make us visible in the community. The monies they raise have helped to maintain our church facility as well as provide funds for individuals in the community who may be in need.
